COOKIE POLICY

Shov keeps essential technology on. Analytics and advertising tags are on by default and follow your browser choice.

1. What these technologies are

Cookies are small browser records. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and server-side identifiers. They remember a session or preference, measure use, connect campaign clicks to conversions, and help secure the service.

2. Essential

These are required for the service or a choice you request and cannot be disabled here:

  • shov_sess and related security state: authentication, account continuity, abuse prevention, and authorization; a session may last up to one year with activity.
  • shov_unlock: pre-launch access for up to 30 days.
  • shov_consent: your analytics and advertising choices for up to 180 days.
  • Local product state: interface, replay, audio, and other settings you ask the browser to remember.

3. Product analytics — optional

On until you reject it. Google Analytics, PostHog, first-touch campaign storage, and Shov's returning-visitor identifier load by default. Rejecting Product Analytics in Cookie Settings or the notice shown on arrival stops them and clears their accessible cookies.

When enabled, Google Analytics 4 and PostHog measure pages, referrer and campaign fields, device/browser characteristics, sessions, and selected events such as waitlist signup, registration, queue entry, match start/completion, replay view, and sharing. Google may set cookies beginning with _ga. PostHog may set cookies or local-storage keys beginning with ph_. Provider retention depends on the project settings; you can withdraw consent at any time.

Shov also stores a first-touch campaign record, including a referring domain, landing path, UTM values, and supported ad click IDs, for up to 90 days so a later waitlist or account conversion can be attributed. A first-party visitor cookie, shov_vid, holds a random identifier for up to 400 days so we can count returning visitors and weekly retention; it contains no personal data and is removed when you reject analytics.

4. Advertising — optional

On until you reject it. Global Privacy Control also forces this category off for that browser, even if an older stored choice said otherwise.

When enabled, Meta Pixel measures selected marketing page views, waitlist leads, completed registrations, and purchases. Meta may use cookies such as _fbp and _fbc for attribution, measurement, optimization, and audiences. This category may be treated as sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under some laws.

X, TikTok, and Google Ads conversion pixels are not currently loaded. Their click identifiers may be retained in Shov's consented first-touch record when present so campaign links remain attributable; adding a new advertising tag requires an updated notice and control.

5. Your controls

Optional technologies are on until you reject them. Use Cookie Settings to accept or reject them together, or to control analytics and advertising separately. Withdrawing a category stops future collection from that category in this browser and removes accessible category cookies; providers may retain information already received as described in their policies. Browser controls and blockers may also remove or restrict cookies.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, Shov turns Advertising off for that browser. For other rights, see the Privacy Policy.
